On April 15th 2013 Aquaporin Asia's workforce was expanded with its first Biomimetic Membrane Developer.

Guofei Sun earned her bachelor's degree in Bioengineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2009. Afterwards, she was hired as a research engineer working on the project "Conceptual demonstration and exploratory study of the fabrication of biomimetic membranes for desalination and water reuse" funded by EWI, Singapore. During the following three years of research into biomimetic membranes, she completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Chemical and Bimolecular Engineering in NUS, and has grown as an experienced researcher. Her expertise lies in design and fabrication of aquaporin-based membranes for both FO and NF, and her bioengineering background provides a strong support for her research in biomimetic membrane development.

- In Guofei's Ph.D work, she has independently developed several approaches of biomimetic membrane fabrication, including the Langmuir-Blodgett technique, the liposome immobilization method, as well as the layer-by-layer self-assembly method. Guofei's scientific background and hands-on lab experience will prove very beneficial to Aquaporin Asia's membrane development work - says Mark Perry, COO of Aquaporin Asia

In Aquaporin Asia, Guofei Sun's job scope as a Biomimetic Membrane Developer will include producing and testing the 1st generation Aquaporin Inside™ Membrane (1G-AIM) in collaboration with external partners, as well as continuing the development work towards future generations AIMs.

- I am looking forward to making our product the most competitive and the most reliable in the membrane market - says Guofei Sun
