Berghof Membranes GmbH and Aquaporin Asia are seeking test partners for tubular FO modules08.09.2016

Aquaporin Asia and Berghof Membranes expect to have square-meter sized prototype modules available for industrial test-bedding by the end of 2016.
    • Berghof Membranes GmbH. - a leading tubular ultrafiltration membrane and MBR systems provider.
    • The National Research Foundation (NRF) - a department within the Singapore Prime Minister's office with the mission to help set the national direction for research and development (R&D) by developing policies, plans and strategies for research, innovation and enterprise.

    • The Environment & Water Industry Programme Office (EWI)- an inter-agency setup with broad representation in key environmental and economic government agencies in Singapore and a goal of spearheading the development of the Singapore environment and water industry.
    • The Public Utilities Board (PUB) - as the national water agency, PUB is responsible for the collection, production, distribution and reclamation of water in Singapore. PUB is actively involved in water technology R&D driven by the desire to (a) increase water resources, (b) keep costs competitive, and (c) manage water quality and security.
Berghof Membrane Technology GmbH, a leading tubular ultrafiltration membrane and MBR systems provider, and Aquaporin Asia Pte. Ltd. have succeeded in combining the Aquaporin Inside™ biomimetic coating process with Berghof Membrane’s tubular membrane technology to form tubular FO membranes. The lower flow resistance of the tubular membrane form factor will expectedly reduce energy consumption and membrane fouling in addition to improving operational stability when treating feed streams with high total dissolved solids, viscosity, and suspended solids.

Aquaporin Asia and Berghof Membranes expect to have square-meter sized prototype modules available for industrial test-bedding by the end of 2016.

The partnership is part of Aquaporin Asia’s 3-year R&D project (1301-IRIS-02), which is funded by Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) with a grant of 2.5 million SGD under its Environment & Water Research Programme and administered by PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency. The aim of the project is to scale-up the Aquaporin Inside™ Forward Osmosis Technology for industrial test-bedding.

Parties interested in testing the prototype modules for FO pilot applications are encouraged to contact Mark Perry (mpe@aquaporin.asia), COO Aquaporin Asia, or Rick te Lintelo (Rick.teLintelo@berghof.com), Director Sales & Marketing Berghof Membranes, for more information on how to become a test partner.
